Officially Licensed Rugby and NFL Gifts
Two sports outside football, stocked differently. Rugby is the larger and almost entirely babywear — England, Wales and Scotland shirt and short sets, sleepsuits, bodysuits, baby jerseys, bibs and tutus, in age bands from newborn to about three years. NFL is the opposite: a dozen small everyday accessories — state shape keyrings, a camo mug, a stripe towel, water bottles, team pencil cases, a car mini kit, a badge and player masks.
Buying for a baby, or for an adult?
The split is unusually clean. Everything on the rugby side is for a child under three, bought for a birth, a christening or a first Six Nations. Everything on the NFL side is for an adult or older child, needs no size, and works as a desk or kit bag item. There is almost nothing in between.
Who licenses merchandise for each of these sports?
A different body in each case — the NFL for its league and team marks, and the English, Welsh and Scottish rugby unions for theirs. Each grants its own licence, which is why the two halves look nothing alike.
