Small, boxed and easy to give. The range covers ceramic coaster sets, cork-backed coasters, silicone coasters and retro beer mat multi-packs in tens and fifteens. Newcastle United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham, West Ham and Nottingham Forest are all represented, mostly in two and four-packs.

Ceramic, cork or silicone?

Ceramic coasters look the part and protect best against heat, but they chip if dropped. Cork-backed versions are quieter on a table and kinder to furniture. Silicone is the practical choice for a house with children — it grips, it does not slide off with the glass, and it survives being stood on. Beer mats are the party option, bought by the pack and treated as disposable.

Will a hot mug mark the table through one?

Ceramic and cork coasters both insulate enough for a hot drink on a normal table. Silicone handles heat well too but is thinner, so on a delicate or waxed surface a cork-backed coaster is the safer choice.
