Arsenal carries the deepest run, with Liverpool and the larger clubs behind it, and most pieces arrive boxed.

Sterling silver or plated?

The difference is what happens over years rather than what you see on day one. Sterling silver is solid metal — it tarnishes, but tarnish polishes off and the piece is unchanged underneath. Plated jewellery looks identical when new but has a finite surface layer. For an eighteenth, a christening or an anniversary, where the piece is meant to outlast the occasion, solid silver is the one to choose.

Will it tarnish, and does that matter?

All sterling silver tarnishes with air and moisture; it is a surface reaction, not damage. A silver cloth restores it in a minute, and pieces worn regularly tarnish far less than those left in a drawer.
